Woodland Lodges Ltd offers trips that are designed to be fun-filled adventures into the wilds of Newfoundland. The provincial government divides the island into zones and release hunting licenses yearly to outfitters for specific species after a careful study of their numbers. This stewardship, plus personal management practices, assures an abundance of game in all zones. We are prepared to give references from our clientele, and we include the few who did not fill their license quotas as well as those who were successful so you can personally equate the quality of the trip by all hunters.

No matter your choice of the three locations, you will find plenty of good homecooked meals prepared by a full-time cook at each location. Our locations are kept clean and orderly. There are showers in all our locations.

Moose

Moose, the pride of Newfoundland's trophies, are spectacular! We are blessed with such large herds theybecome a hazard when driving to and from our locations.

Our guests have been 98% successful for this species for the past ten years. Our usual hunt includes stalking and taking ground stands near the many bog areas.

These animals are solitary and impressive. You will never forget the excitement of your first sighting of a trophy bull.

 

 

 

Caribou

Make no mistake here, our caribou are woodland caribou, not barren ground animals. This is the only location in the world where this species is hunted and our numbers have grown to boundless proportions. Woodland Lodges is secure in its record of 100% success in the past ten years. These fine animals are worthy quarry.

Since these caribou are not constantly migrating as their barren ground counterparts, the bulls support massive racks. These animals meander from forest to bog on their daily routine. Our hunts are designed as stalks in the European fashion. We care for the meat and trophy antlers with extreme care.

 

 

Bear

Newfoundland has no competition in its offering  to other Black Bear hunting in the entire world. There are bears, lots of bears, and are they large! Low hunting pressure and excellent habitat for our estimated 14,000 animals has allowed the development of numerous bears in the 400 to 500lb. range.

 

Fishing

Newfoundland is legendary for its fishing. At Victoria Lake we have excellent trout and landlocked salmon fishing available. Fishing trips can be arranged for any week in June, July or August. Good rates available. We can accommodate small or large groups or families.

 

Travel

Both Air Canada and Canadian Air have connecting flights in from the United States and other parts of Canada daily. We will meet clients at the Deer Lake or Stephenville Airport. We'll then take you to our camps by sea plane or helicopter.
